Vinyl or silicone reborn babies? What to choose?
Want to get a reborn baby, but not sure if you should choose between a vinyl or silicone baby? Let's first see what the differences and options are for you!
Vinyl babies can be very realistic in detail. The paint works very well on the vinyl so it is possible to do just about anything! If you choose a suedette body, the baby will be very malleable, so you can position it in several different positions. If you opt instead for a full body vinyl, then you can take beautiful photos, it's to be mistaken with a real infant! This is a good option to avoid the expense of raising silicone dolls. But to rock it, you may not appreciate the stiffness of this kind of baby. ATTENTION: although the baby has a complete body, it cannot be bathed like a silicone baby.
On vinyl babies, you can also choose between 3/4 limbs and a baby with full limbs. The big difference is in the positions and the clothes you can make him wear. Babies with 3/4 limbs position themselves better... but cannot be photographed in a diaper, for example. In both cases, vinyl or silicone, you can choose a baby with open eyes or closed eyes, as well as implanted or painted hair.
The big advantage of silicone babies is that they can go in the water, and what a pleasure it is to give them a bath to a newborn, what's more... don't cry! You will then have the chance to powder it from head to toe!!!
However, silicone babies are much more fragile. A child or an animal could easily damage it. The dressing is also more complex, you will have to be delicate not to break a finger on the doll! Of course, the biggest difference between a vinyl baby and a silicone baby is above all the price! Silicone babies are much more expensive, due to their creation process, the complexity of molding them and painting them. Since silicone paint is very sticky and expensive, not all artists want to try the experiment and start creating silicone babies.
You can find artists who do everything from A to Z, from molding to painting! Or others, like me, who buy blank kits and just have to paint them and put the hair in. Depending on the price, the kit will be more or less well molded. I must admit that it is really very pleasant to take a silicone baby in our arms, the effect is so realistic!
