I'm sure you've seen the word Realborn instead of the word Reborn and said to yourself: It's probably the same thing!
But no, there is a difference, enormous even, which differentiates these 2 terms. But what is she?
So there you go, I'll explain all this in detail, I hope it can enlighten you!
A reborn is an artist who sculpted it... from A to Z, then she created a mold and it was produced in several copies, either unlimited or very limited. This is also the specialty of certain sculptors, such as Natali Blick among others, who releases practically all these kits now in 999 copies. This phenomenon creates a rarity, which means that very often, Natali Blick's kits sell out in less than 5 minutes all over the world.
Some artists prefer to specialize in newborns, while others are known for their talent in making toddler kits.
Some artists have had the chance to see one of their kits become very popular, this is the case of the Levi kit for example, of the very famous Bonnie Brown who, by the way, was inspired by her own son!
There is also the famous smiling baby, the beautiful April kit by Joanna Kazmierczak. Unfortunately, not all sculptors have this chance, some will remain in the shadows.
A realborn, on the other hand, is a 3D representation of a baby that actually exists. Manufactured in the factory, they are produced in unlimited editions, although after a while some kits end up disappearing to make way for new ones.
Realborns are as legal as reborns, they are just produced differently. The quality of the vinyl is also different, and the reborns have more fine details given that they are sculpted by hand and not by a machine.
My opinion? Personally, I now prefer reborns, but that's a very personal choice.
I created a little video a while ago if you ever want to see the whole thing in pictures!
